BANKING TECHNOLOGY 2006, RETAIL BANKING 2006 & THE BANKING TECHNOLOGY AWARDS 2005 on February 8, 2006 at the Hilton Towers, Mumbai

IBA jointly with TFCI organized BANKING TECHNOLOGY 2006, RETAIL BANKING 2006 & THE BANKING TECHNOLOGY AWARDS 2005 on February 8, 2006 at the Hilton Towers, Mumbai. It was India's premier banking and financial services event, which attracted industry's leading figures and firms.

The exclusive conference targeted at CIO's and management teams of the Indian Banking & Financial Services Industry addressed the issues that are challenging the banking industry, today, and in the future - new technologies, new client expectations, security issues, unexpected alliances and the ever-growing pressures for greater efficiency of people and technology.

The distinguished guests who did the honors of lighthing the inaugural lamp were Dr. Patangrao Kadam, Hon. Minister for Co-operation, Relief and Rehabilitation - Govt. of Maharashtra, Mr. Vepa Kamesan, Director, Institute for Insurance & Risk Management, Mr. H N Sinor, Chief Executive, IBA, Ms. Lalita Gupte, Jt. Managing Director, ICICI Bank Ltd., Mr. G Padmanabhan, CGM In-Charge, RBI and Mr. Balmohan Tarakad, President & CEO, TFCI.

The event highlights were the Welcome Address by Mr. H N Sinor and Inaugural Address by Chief Guest - Dr. Patangrao Kadam. The Keynote session covered topics on 'Leveraging Technology for Expanding International Business' by Ms. Lalita Gupte, Jt. Managing Director - ICICI Bank Ltd., 'IT Infrastructure Management for Efficiency & Security' by Mr. G Padmanabhan, Chief General Manager In-charge - Reserve Bank of India and 'The Paradox of Banking 2015' by Mr. Sunny Banerjea, Global Banking Leader (Institute for Business Value)- IBM.

Eminent Speakers spoke on different modules viz. AML, Mobile Banking, Server Center Solutions, Risk Management, Data Storage Solutions, Compliance, Infrastructure, Core Banking Systems, Role of IT in the next frontiers of Retail Banking, Retail & Digital Mobile initiatives etc.

The CEO Panel discussion on "The Future of Banking in India: Aligning the Bank's overall strategy and business needs" was chaired by Vepa Kamesam, Managing Director - IIRM and the panelist were Dr. A K Khandelwal, Chairman & Managing Director - Bank of Baroda; R N Ramanathan, Dy. Managing Director(IT) - State Bank of India; Aditya Menon, Chief Information Officer - Yes Bank Ltd. & Deepak Patil, Chief Executive Officer - The Shamrao Vithal Co-op. Bank Ltd.

The Conference was well attended by about 368 professionals from a wide spectrum of banks, financial institutions, solution provider giants and members of the media.

THE BANKING TECHNOLOGY AWARDS 2005


The prestigious Banking Technology Awards Ceremony was held in the evening after the conclusion of the Conference. In its second innings, these awards recognized and rewarded Individuals, Professionals and Banks in the technology segment of Banking Industry, whose innovative ideas, initiatives, risk, leadership qualities and implementation of various initiatives have kept their organization ahead of their competitors by :

  • Maintaining the competitive edge
  • Opening up new revenue streams or by
  • Changing the competitive landscape completely.
