B D Narang, Chairman & Managing Director, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Keynote Speaker Ms. Neelam Dhawan, Director-ESG, Hewlett Packard and the distinguished Speakers & audience. Ms. Neelam Dhawan made a presentation on Storage Networking & Storage Resource Management. Thereafter, Shri Narang made an insightful speech. The extract of his speech is as under:

· IT infrastructures were built to be stable not to react quickly to changing business strategies and processes -The technology-led era resulted in two major problems:

1. There has been an enterprise-wide over-deployment of over provisioned servers, storage and over-redundant network infrastructure. Gartner estimates that the typical utilization rate of the infrastructure is only about 30%.

2. The "islands of computing" serving individual application needs have become inflexible silos which resist accommodating change (and are exceedingly difficult to manage)

· Businesses will be:
- responding to market and business demands in real time
- balancing a dynamic supply of owned and on-demand assets and services
o Individuals will:
- be empowered by immediate knowledge available where and when needed
o Computing Infrastructure will be:
- tightly and dynamically tied to business requirements
- managed as a single globally distributed resource
- enabled by a enterprise grids
- powered by modular, standards-enabled components
